I am sure someone else on here has owned a Dell H310 that they flashed to IT mode to lok like a regular LSI HBA adapter. I followed a couple of guides on the internet and flashed it to IT mode fine. I popped it into a Windows 10 machine with a couple of SAS to 4xSATA cables and have six WD Reds attached. It looks like it is working fine, and I see the drives, but I am curious what drivers and software I should be using? It automatically installed this driver, but no utilities. Shouldn't it identify as an LSI after this update? Click to expand.I don't know for sure if that controller is 1:1 compatible with LSI firmware. I mean as long as it works with the current firmware in IT mode, I personally wouldn't screw around with it. I know it was possible with some of the older cards (9211 based cards like the IBM card). I flashed IT mode onto mine and then didn't change anything else. As for drivers and management, I never played around with my 9211 card. As long as Windows 10 sees the drives and I can use them in IT mode, I didn't play around with it too much.

Hi, I'm having an issue with an old Dell R420. We're re-using it as a member server and the configuration it had on it has been completely erased. I've booted into the configuration utility and created a new RAID 10 VD. This disk is showing as initialised. On boot the server is picking up on the WIndows (2008 r2) server image and kicks off install process. When I get to the select disks point the RAID volume isn't showing up.
NO hardware changes have been made. My colleague HAS reset the BIOS. I've put the disks in RAID mode. I'm not familiar with this this PERC card and I've not had this issue before. Am I missing something obvious? For example do I need specific drivers so that windows can see this RAID array.

Your question COULD be construed as rather pointed and passing judgement about purpose the way it's phrased, however I think we can all agree that was not your intent, nor was it his to be defensive. Just as what he might 'NEED' is his judgement, not ours. I'm assuming(against my better judgement) that the OP isn't pleased about doing a bare metal install either, but if that's what he was tasked with, well then that's what he's doing and the reason for his defensive snarky comment(again, our perception). I have been tasked to bring this physical server back to life. You are correct and you don't need help either.
